You don’t always know what you’re getting when you purchase community titles from drivethrurpg, but if it’s by Studio 404, then you know it’s going to be good, balanced homebrew on par with first-party published material.

Great product, perfect for running any sort of mecha inspired game. Most attempts at mecha games either get bogged down in too much crunch or keep things extremely loose and narrative. This product finds the sweet spot between those two different approaches, enough depth to keep players engaged, but streamlined enough you can get it on the table quickly.

Richly detailed science fantasy setting. A number of neat ideas are here. I’m particularly fond of the idea that the shared pantheon across the galaxy is... incredibly wicked and vile, but their church (sort of) isn’t. If you’re looking for hard scifi you’ll be disappointed, but if you’re looking for something that will mash up space adventures with fantasy elements you’ll be very pleased. Art and layout are all excellent, just in general really polished.

Picked this up and started running an adventure with my son while camping this week. Have to say, it’s a fun blend of space and fantasy. Includes plenty of races, equipment, and ships along with the lore of the galaxy to get a game up and running in no time. Quality work and content. If you’re interested in blending magic and space combat, then this setting is for you. I have to admit, it was entertaining to see my son blast someone with a laser gun and then hurl someone else with a magical attack.

Genesys Foundry is starting off strong with this science fiction title. Expanding on the themes in the core rulebook, Starcana provides a setting with new species, new careers, and the gear and background necessary to start adventuring in the Almacar galaxy. The PDF is beautifully illustrated but easy to read and looks just like what you’d expect in a Genesys supplement. Recommended for anyone who wants to add elements of science fiction and space opera into their worlds, or for those who want something fully fleshed out and ready for adventure.

I have been running a cyberpunk with doses of space opera game for nearly a year now. And have found great fun in mixing the aspects of terrinoth and sotb together. So when I found Starcana I was greatly hyped. My wish is it came out sooner as it handles a lot of the interactions between fantasy and sci fi quite well. The new talents and weapon qualities are nice and easy to implement.

The setting itself is quite interesting but I had already established my world but it has enough to spice up and add to my own world that I’m thankful for.

I definitely recommend checking it out. My favorite parts is the Forked item quality and the EXOsuit mechanics.
